Nonwoven geotextile fabrics are probably the most commonly known geotextiles. Nonwoven polypropylene fabric, which has a felt-like consistency, combines strength and flow ability. The fabrics are strong but permeable, allowing for varied uses. Nonwoven fabrics commonly are used as to stabilize unstable soil, prevent rocks and roots from penetrating pond liner from below, and is often used by landscapers to create “rock pads” to cushion large rocks and boulders placed on top of pond liner. Nonwoven Geotextile Fabrics have a random, three dimensional pore structure and are highly water permeable, as is necessary in many geotextile end uses.
